            Privacy First: Vocai is designed with privacy at its core. All voice transcription happens locally on your device. Your audio and transcriptions never leave your Mac unless you explicitly choose to use cloud features.
        

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Vocai ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our macOS application.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Processed Locally (Never Sent to Us)

Audio recordings: All voice recordings are processed entirely on your device
Transcriptions: Generated locally using on-device AI models
Notes and annotations: Stored locally on your Mac

2.2 Information We May Collect

Account information: Email address (if you create an account)
Usage statistics: Anonymous usage data to improve the app (can be disabled)
Payment information: Processed by Paddle; we don't store payment details
Crash reports: Anonymous error reports to fix bugs

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

Provide and maintain the App
Process subscriptions and payments
Send important updates about the App
Improve the App based on usage patterns
Provide customer support

4. Data Storage and Security

Local Data: Transcriptions, recordings, and notes are stored locally on your Mac in the app's data folder. This data is protected by macOS security features.

Account Data: If you create an account, authentication data is securely stored and encrypted.

Payment Data: All payment processing is handled by Paddle. We never see or store your credit card information.

5. Third-Party Services

Vocai uses the following third-party services:

Paddle: Payment processing and subscription management (Merchant of Record)
Supabase: Account authentication (optional)
Ollama/OpenAI: AI suggestions (optional, only if you enable cloud AI features)

Each service has its own privacy policy governing their use of data.

5.1 Paddle Data Sharing

When you make a purchase, Paddle (as our Merchant of Record) collects your payment and billing information. Paddle shares the following data with us for order fulfillment and customer support purposes:

Your name and email address
Billing address and country
Purchase history and subscription status

We process this data under legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) for product fulfillment, customer support, and fraud prevention. We do not use this data for marketing without your explicit consent. For more information, see Paddle's Privacy Policy.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share data only:

With your explicit consent
To comply with legal obligations
To protect our rights and safety
With service providers who assist our operations (under strict confidentiality)

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of your data
Correction: Update inaccurate information
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data
Portability: Export your transcriptions
Opt-out: Disable analytics in settings

8. Children's Privacy

Vocai is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

9. International Users

If you're using Vocai from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data protection laws.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by email.
